here hasn’t been a lot of activity on here lately, mostly because of our latest addition to the family: a new baby girl, Lorien Christine Sieh, born July 24. I’m a proud new dad, and our little family brings a new excitement and joy to my life every day.
However, this past month life has taken me away from Ivar and Goran’s story. This isn’t just a function of having a new baby to take care of. I’ve been itching to put time into some of my other writing projects that call to me, as well as other hobbies. Previously, Iron & Ash took up a lot of my free time, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does starve me of time to put into other things.
That said, this isn’t the end of Iron & Ash. I’m taking a break, going on a short hiatus. I plan to be back in a few months, after things settle down again, and after I get to focus on some of my other projects. I still have a lot of interest in this project. Ivar and Goran mean a lot to me (as well as some of their friends and enemies, some of whom you haven’t met yet). And I want to finish their story.

If you’re a sporadic reader, and you don’t yet have Iron & Ash set up in your RSS feed reader (something you should do!), it’s now easier for you to continue reading wherever you left off.
Starting yesterday, Iron & Ash will keep track of the last entry you read. The next time you return, you can easily continue the story where you left off by clicking the “Continue Reading” link in the upper right. No more hunting through the archives!
However, we only store this information for a month. After such a long stretch of inactivity, your place will no longer be saved. So please come back more often!

’m Joel, and I’m the proprietor of this web site and author of “Iron and Ash.”
For those of you who have stumbled upon this site, you may be wondering what it is. It’s quite simple: “Iron and Ash” is an original fantasy story in blog format. There are two main characters, and they discuss their story in real time as the story progresses. At a minimum, once per weekday one of them will pipe up and relate the important events of the day, or provide a piece of relevant history, description, or opinion.
The posts are meant to brief and engaging. I want you, the reader, to be able to get an interesting or exciting piece of the story every day, without having to devote a bunch of your time.
I’m looking forward to any comments you may have.

ear friends and passers-by, welcome to “Iron & Ash”. Although I’ve titled this initial post “Live”, I’m afraid the blog isn’t quite ready yet. My crack team of code ninjas still needs a few days for checking some finicky little details. (I’m told we may even have an RSS feed in short order.)
Introductions right now are unfortunately a bit premature… I look forward to seeing you in January!
